ARC Associates, ("ARC") a specialist investment banking and advisory firm to the TMT, financial services and property sectors has advised Marconi plc, Britain's largest telecommunications equipment maker in their acquisition of MSI, a global provider of consultancy, planning services and business and Operational Support Services for US $618 million.
This acquisition was in line with Marconi's efforts to push into the wireless market. MSI will strengthen Marconi's strategy to increase its capabilities in high value-adding network services as it has over 100 wireless service provider customers in more than 60 countries, and in the year ended December 1999 had revenue of US $92.9 million.
Commenting, John Allen, the Chairman of ARC, "MSI is a major investment in wireless enabling skills and technology for Marconi and will accelerate their access to a wide range of mobile service providers worldwide."
Marconi is a global communications and IT company that supplies advanced communications solutions and the key technologies and services for the internet. In 1999, Marconi refocused on traditional fixed-line phone equipment having exited from the defence electronics business.
