July 2002 -  Senior Investment Banking Appointments at ARC Associates

ARC Associates Press Release

ARC Associates Press Realease, 10th July 2002

ARC Associates (ARC), the specialist investment banking and advisory firm to the telecommunications, information technology, media and entertainment industries, today announces a significant strengthening of its team.

As one of Europe’s largest TMT M&A teams, ARC’s Directors have over 35 collective experience advising companies on critical strategic and financial decisions. These new hires further enhance ARC’s advisory capabilities and strengthen the firm’s position in helping TMT companies and their stakeholders face the variety of challenges being created by current market conditions.

Welcoming the new appointment, John Allen, Executive Chairman of ARC Associates, commented:

“We are delighted to welcome this new hire to our team. Our investment banking team now has, we believe, unparalleled M&A, UK regulatory, private placement and strategic advisory expertise across the European TMT sector.

“At ARC we see considerable scope to expand our business. We are the only TMT-focused advisory team who are able to offer clients genuinely independent specialist advice. Given the diversity of companies and issues, together with the breadth of opportunities in the TMT sector, we believe there is a growing need for such a specialist advisory service.”

Peter Tahany joins ARC as a Director from Durlacher where he was Head of M&A. Peter has over fourteen years of M&A and investment banking experience and has advised on a range of private and public company investment transactions involving companies, shareholders and governments in Europe, Asia and North America with a particular focus on structuring exit transactions for owner operators. Prior to joining Durlacher from ICF, a new media advisory boutique, Peter worked for Daiwa Europe and Shearson Lehman Hutton where he advised on a range of corporate finance projects, particularly in the technology, multi-media and convergent industry sectors. Before entering investment banking, Peter qualified as a solicitor and spent four years at Simmons & Simmons advising on intellectual property, banking and corporate matters.

ARC is also pleased to announce the hiring of a new executive to its investment banking team. Alistair Britton, Senior Associate, joins from a US investment bank where he spent two years providing M&A advice to UK and European public and private companies as well as executing private equity fund raisings, focusing on the IT services sector. Prior to this, Alistair worked for KPMG Corporate Finance in London specialising in the engineering and technology sectors. Alistair trained, qualified and practiced as a solicitor at Simmons & Simmons in London.
